Let’s get to Lip Care: Get them looking plush and rosy with these our top lip balms.
Simply put, lip balms are supposed to be moisturing and hydrating. Either tinted or not, they should keep the lips soft, beautiful, rosy and plush. Our top lip balms are picked on their ability to keep the lips nice and supple. There would be no need chewing the dry skin on the lips, there won’t be any left, using these.
Exfoliate the lips for better results. Usually, I do that when brushing my teeth. I brush my lips too. It is easier to remember that way and it makes a difference. Other times, I use a clean wash cloth and water only. The simple things….
In no particular order of preference, we have:
Vaseline Lip Therapy:
This is basically everywhere and it is a cult favourite. It comes in blue as well and gives deep moisture to the lips. It’s Vaseline, right? This is the buttery, subtly tinted rosy lip therapy. Good enough to lock in moisture and keeps the lips smooth. I usually have this on everyday, under a lipstick.
Neutrogena Revitalising Lip Balm:
This is a special lip balm that gave my lips a healthier look in a few weeks. It is tinted and with an SPF 20 for protection. When sun protecting your skin, you can do same with your lips. Fancy.
It won’t look like Chapsticks or an occlusive lip balm. I don’t like that it is a sheer lip balm with that plum shimmery undertone (which is obvious but not good enough to use as a lipstick) but it will definitely work great especially if the preference is for a subtle no makeup look. Use a lip liner and it’s perfect. I use with a lipstick too.
Burt’s Bees Moisturising Lip Balm:
This is also my everyday lip balm. Burt’s Bees do not play. No seriously, they are doing so well with their brand. The lip balm I purchased came in a set of two. I chose my favourite flavours: Coconut (Coconut & Pear) and Mango. I lost the Mango flavour but luckily, the Coconut one is doing justice to my lips. It smells delicious without being overwhelming.
It is not sticky but moisturising. Great to relieve chapped lips. It glides on easily and stays on moisturised. It can be used just before a lipstick as well. It is so soft. It would always make the list of top lip balms and sits in my makeup bag everyday.
Carmex Moisturing Lip Balm:
Carmex is an oldie and goodie. It is definitely not a new kid on the block but it is amazing. It also has SPF 15. Sigh.. sweet!!!! The tub says it soothes, moisturises and protects. It’s all true. No wonder it’s so famous. Once applied, there is a tingling sensation and then a soothing one. It’s unbelievable. It is very sheer and moisturising. Application is also very easy and a little goes a long way. It will heal chapped lips like a bad habit. What’s not to love about it. I’m particularly not big on the fragrance but it works.
Neosporin Lip Health- Overnight Renewal Therapy ®:
The fastest in recovery. The absolute best for me. Heals dry lips overnight. It took a few days for me and it is a fantastic product. It is white, thick and creamy. Application is easy and I use at night, just before bed. Although I do wake up to glossy lips, my lips feel smooth and soft. The ingredients include white Petroleum, Vitamin E and Antioxidants. With Neosporin Lip Health Therapy, you’re sure of a thick soft application by finger with no scent at all. A white cast would be left on the lips but it works it’s magic that way. Guaranteed to wake up to better lips especially if they’re cracked from the seasonal changes.
Chapsticks By Pfizer
Dont we all love chapsticks? This is another old and universally used lip balm. It is a brand by Pfizer. It smells so delicious and I have used this brand for years. It was my first ever lip balm with the flat, round Vaseline Lip Balm (in blue and green) that stressed me out when opening and unscrewing it. With this Chapstick, it glides on beautifully and it is not greasy. Amazing to use everyday. Almost smells like bubblegum. I’m in love with this. It makes my lips soft and supple. I used this before any matte lipstick.
The list of top lip balms are available in Nigeria at almost every Pharmacy. It is very handle and useful all season.
