Basically, Essentials oils and acne.
Essential oils are natural oils obtained from plants, seeds, nuts, leaves, flowers and resins by distillation. This process ensures that the natural properties of parent plant, flower, seed, nuts, leaves or resins maintain its properties.
They are extremely potent and the most preferred alternative to conventional medication. The only caveat however, is that I would not recommend ingestion. Please consult your doctor before exploring ingestion a remedy to medical conditions.
Essential oils have been dealt extensively in the previous posts, regarding its properties and awesomeness so let’s get to the fun part now, shall we?
I had the pleasure of writing about the angry looking, painful stuff on the face called Acne. In that article, an extensive remedy was provided on the products required to get rid it permanently, after a brief introduction of the medical term-Acne.
This involves using Salicylic acid, a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) that comes in gel and liquid forms- an excellent match for Acne, Benzoyl Peroxide and Vitamin C cleansers. Witch Hazel Toners were recommended and these solutions are all natural.
I gave a Cheatsheet of quick recovery of cold and flu using Essential Oils. This was a blend I discovered myself. It goes to show Essential Oils are a major must- have in homes.
Another extremely effective way to battling Acne is by using Essential oils. These are not your favorite type of oils like Neroli or Sandalwood. Nope, it’s also not Tea Tree and Peppermint oil. It is loaded with enormous healing properties as a deodorant, antibiotic, sedative, antidepressant, febrifuge, antiseptic, disinfectant and vulnerary substance. Frankincence – One of my faves. Popularly known as one of the gifts presented to baby Jesus by the three wise men (Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh), It is used as a supporting ingredient for many health conditions and a secret formula in tons of skincare products.
This legend is used in many perfumes as an active ingredient. It is notable for its aged wood, subtle citrusy and balsamic notes, it is nearly indescribable.Basil – I have only used Basil oil for breakouts and it is fanastic for this purpose, in combination with Witch Hazel Toner. Infamously known for improving confidence, reducing fear, negative thoughts and mental fatigue, Basil has potent medicinal properties. Lavender – This is one of the most popular Essential oil on the market. For every Essential oil I have, there are three bottles of Lavender oil.
I’ve used this to make body scrubs, body butters and synergy blends for aromatherapy. This
bad boy..um girl is loaded with numerous medicinal properties. Egyptians used this oil in mummification, the Bible records its use for healing and anointing, it is valued in cosmetic formulation, it supports brain’s functionalities and boosts the immune system.
HOW TO USE ESSENTIAL OILS AND WITCH HAZEL TO COMBAT ACNE
It is the simplest method ever! Get all the four Essential oils and witch hazel in a small bottle. This should be 4 drops of Bergamot, 3 drops of Frankincense, 2 drops of Basil and 3 drops of Greek Lavender and 2 oz/59ml of witch hazel.
Shake all mixture and apply directly to acne using 3-4 drops on a cotton swab. Larger area? Add 1 spoon of same mixture to a damp face cloth (It should be dampened right before application because already dampened face cloth is a hotbed for bacteria and encourages acne growth) and dab directly on the acne.
Clogged Skin- Experiencing breakouts from clogged pores? Are you looking to unclog your pores?
Add 6 drops of Ylang Ylang Essential oil, Manuka oil or Sweet Orange oil in a bottle. Bottle should be about 1 oz or 30ml. Fill up the bottle with witch hazel and shake mixture. Use a cotton pad/ball, use a small amount of mixture and wipe over the skin.
Leave a message if you’ve used this mixture and let me know if it helped. Thank you.
