Natural Recipe – Body Butter
I am such a lover of natural things but I wear makeup. I actually love homemade stuff & DIY using natural ingredients. I share with my loved ones too.
This time, the weather is a little chilly and unkind to the skin. The skin gets hard, due to lack of moisture. I don’t really love Shea Butter but my skin does. Necessity, they say, is the mother of invention. I found a way to mask the smell of Shea Butter.
Shea Butter is extremely moisturising and to ensure optimum application and absorption, it’s better to apply when the skin is damp and fresh.
With that said, Here is my easy recipe. (Use only natural ingredients).
Homemade Body butter with Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Jasmine Essential Oil, Lavender Essential Oil & Rosemary Essential Oil.
You might notice the keywords on every ingredient- Organic, Extra Virgin, Pure, Raw Unrefined. Yeah, buddy!
Assembling– I assembled all the items to be used for proper co-ordination.
Measuring Jug & Shea Butter– In a Jug, I put in two (2) huge scoops of Shea Butter. Each scoop from different brands. The big white pure raw unrefined Shea Butter was hard and easily broke while scooping. The smaller transparent (Triple extra grade A -100% raw & organic free acidity 1.8%) one had a creamier consistency and I felt to enjoy the best of both.
Coconut Oil into the Jug with Shea Butter – After putting two (2) scoops of Shea Butter in a Jug, put some Coconut Oil for that extra glow. Use only 2 spoons. Mix all these together until it is a smooth paste.
This is perfectly ok to use this way. Oh you want it whipped, huh?
Get a double boiler and put it on a stove with your mix. Melt it to a little creamy paste. If it’s already warm and soft like mine was, skip this step.
Next- Refrigerate to get it a bit hard so it whips up real good. Leave it in for 45 minutes. You’d notice whipping it makes it less oily, soft and fluffy. The combination of butters and oils are really moisturising and nourishing.
Essential Oils -Take it out of the freezer, check that it’s a little hard, put in essential oil of choice. I chose Lavender & Rosemary (5drops each) with a drop of Jasmine absolute. It has a really strong fragrance so a little helps. (Do a patch test to ensure it’s ok for the skin).
Hand mixers -With a hand mixer, whip the entire mix real good for 10 minutes only. Customize it’s scents with essential oils if others don’t love Lavender ?
When it’s fluffy and creamy, put in a beautiful glass jar and refrigerate for 10 minutes if in warmer climates. Otherwise, voila! You’ve got a body butter. If you prefer it solid, refrigerate when need be. Enjoy the scents and your body will love its nourishment. No ashy skin this season.
