Body Scrub– What best way to polish your skin if you do not scrub it. There are actually two ways you can exfoliate your skin. We will get into the fun part real soon.
Exfoliation is basically the best way to get dead skin off. No skincare product will be effective if you do not exfoliate and no skincare routine is useful if you do not use sunscreen. Yep!!! That’s a very high level summary so if you have been reading up on my posts, you’ll see the details.
There are basically two ways you can get dead skin off body. This allows fresh new skin to resurface which is usually baby smooth and silky. Technically, like a baby’s skin. Here’s how:
Exfoliation using AHA/ BHA:
Alpha and Beta Hydroxy Acids are derived from sour milk, Sugarcane, bitter Almonds etc which we call Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid and Mandelic Acid respectively. These acids are great at exfoliating the skin by penetrating the top layer of the skin and dissolve dead skin and hydrate the skin. These are especially related to AHA. The beta to the Alpha, is the Salicylic Acid which works it’s magic on oily and acne prone skin. It simply works inside the pores of the skin, tackles blackheads, whiteheads, cycts etc. It’s amazing.
The acids unglue the bond/ dissolve what binds dead skin to the body and allows it shed off.
Exfoliation using Body Scrubs
Body Scrub is fantastic and it’s method of exfoliation is different. It works on the surface of the skin, scrubbing and polishing the skin at once for a smooth surface. It works on the surface of the skin. If you like, you can polish once a week and use acids once. It will be the lethal combination for a glowing skin. Shhh!! Don’t tell. You will want to use a handle scrub Salts can be more abrasive than sugar and Pink Himalayan salt can he amazing too You will guaranteed smooth, soft, supple skin
A recipe I use all the time
If you’ve been reading through previous posts, you’ll notice the method of Epsom Salts and Grapeseed or sweet Almond oil that is quite abrasive. I don’t drake that for people because it helped my skin, I am not particularly sure another’s skin would tolerate that. I took it up a notch and made an emulsified one. This type contains Pink Himalayan salt or raw sugar. The oils don’t sink with this method.
The ingredients are suspended in the Avocado butter and the salts are fine so it works wonders onthe skin. No jokes here. It reminds me of cheese in paradise and I used a preservative just in case water or humidity gets the best of it. You will want to use sterilised utensils and unrefined organic products for this one if you’ve got sensitive skin like me.
Do you love to DIY? Let me know and I’ll give you this recipe. You can also purchase this from me. It is super affordable.
I hope you find this useful. Thank you for reading. Xx
