Review: On Skin Whitening And Kojie San

Review: On Skin Whitening And Kojie San

The Kojie San Soap was drawn to my attention after a lot of fuss and reviews on how amazing this product is for skin whitening. The reason this was purchased was to see if I could get an overall even skintone (and to correct pigmentation on my feet) so this wasn’t followed through with the Kojie San skincare system of skin whitening products like the lotion, toner etc.

For effective skin whitening/ lightening, a soap would not make a difference to skin complexion except you use a Moisturiser with all the lightening ingredients and maybe an intravenous procedure of lightening or skin whitening products like Glutathione. (Ha!)

Recommended: Using The Right Moisturiser

What is Kojie San (Soap)

This is specific to the soap as I can not give a review of products I have not used. Basically “…single soap inspired by the sinuous Japanese skin, BEVI Beauty Element Ventures Inc. has created a revolutionary product that changed many loyal users perspective in life and found confidence in their awakened beauty”. Yeah?

I discontinued used use after the first bar was done. The other two sat in the Cabinet until it expired in April 2018. 10 months after first use

Features:

“The Kojic Acid you’ve always trusted, the one prescribed by your dermatologist is now available in Kojie San Soap. Kojie San contains high grade cosmetic all-natural Kojic Acid that helps prevent melanin production making skin lighter and clearer. Kojie San Soap is effective in diminishing dark spots, freckles and acne, stretch marcks, uneven skin tone and othe skin tone disorders.”

“Kojic Acid was discovered in Japan, it is a byproduct of Koji or Malted Rice used in the production of rice wine. In cosmetics, kojic acid is popularly known for its remarkable whitening effect and antioxidant properties.”

How to Use:

“For daily use on face and body. For optimum result, use Kojie San Lightening Body Lotion w/ SPF25 after bathing.”- From the official Website .

The Kojic San Soap I purchased

I am not big on judging anyone’s preference in complexion changes (skin whitening). As I’ve mentioned and indicated on the official website of Kojie San, you’d need to use the Lightening body lotion for the product to be effective.

Full list of ingredients

The list of ingredients are: Coconut oil, Water, Preservatives, Tea tree oil, Fragrance, colouring, Glycerin, Kojic Acid (the active ingredient), Glucose et al: (Cocos nucifera (Coconut) Oil, De-ionized Water, Sodium Hydroxide, Fragrance, Kojic Acid, Glycerin, Aqua (and) Xanthan Gum (and) Caprylyl Glycol (and) Glucose (and) Chondrus crispus (Carrageenan) (and) Phenoxyethanol (and) Ethylhexylglycerine, Cocodiethanolamide, Mineral Oil, Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea Tree) Oil, Cl 15985, Cl 19140, BHT).

The use of Kojie San Soap:

With no strict adherence to the instructions on the pack, I started off using Kojic San Soap with a Korean Italy Towel (an exfoliating sponge) for the duration of three (3) weeks. The soap melts up pretty quickly, and leaves the surrounding areas Orange in colour (a strong shower with a good rinse will make all the difference).

I also followed with an exfoliating lotion from Alpha Skincare and the intention was to complete the skin routine for six (6) weeks to see if there’d be any difference in the skin’s appearance (concentration on the highly pigmented areas).

Colour and packaging

The smell was citrusy. More like a blend of Bergamot and Orange, which was nice. The colour of the product was Orange too.

I have normal to combination skin and noticed a burning sensation or stinging when using the product on my skin. I used on my face and body as well and eventually had little breakouts like a rash that also healed quickly (it could be the change in products, the skin could be sensitive too).

I found this product to be drying so I always followed through with the exfoliating lotion, layered with body butters for extra moisture.

It gives a rich lather, it exfoliates the skin (you might even notice micropeeling) and also makes the skin feel tight after use.

Post six (6) weeks, there was no difference in the skin’s complexion. This means that I experienced no skin whitening/ lightening even on the areas I meant to treat. This could be because:

  • I didn’t use the complete skincare system of Kojie San, only the bar of soap
  • Kojic Acid is a natural ingredient which will not lightening the skin effectively except with a combination of other natural ingredients that also inhibit melanin production on the skin such as Licorice root extract, Vitamin C, Embilica Root, Mulberry root extract, Gigawhite, Alpha Arbutin etc

Although it is a well formulated product and there are amazing reviews, I will not be repurchasing. It’s been good but no thank you. If this worked great on your skin, I’m happy for you.

If you’re in love with this product and you experience breakouts, you can use twice a week because it is also a strong exfoliant, you might not need to use everyday. A good way is to alternate it with a mild cleanser or shower gel- whatever your preference is.. If you know about the squeaky clean feeling of the skin after a bath, this product gives the same effect.

Always moisturise heavily or generously after using this bar of soap.

Have you tried the Kojic San Soap or Skincare System? Please share your experience. Thank you.
